Air Ride Technologies 2005 Mustang
The Forza Mustang built by Air Ride Technologies became a popular vehicle that many enthusiasts saw during the televised show of the “Forza Motorsports Showdown,” that ran on TLC/Discovery Channel. The 2005 Mustang was originally built as the “Woodward GT” SEMA project for Ford Motor Company. It was the original development vehicle for the Air Ride Technologies AirStrut ShockWave air suspension for this series Mustang.
It was subsequently used to participate in, and ultimately win, the $100,000 Grand Prize in the Forza Motorsports Showdown, a four-episode reality series that aired on Speed Channel in the Spring of 2007. The Air Ride Technologies team of Brad Coomer, Brit Marolf and driver Angela Cope out ran five other teams in a series of drag races, road course events, drifting and autocrosses to achieve this win.
A total of 16 million people watched the four episodes as the Mustang and its crew navigated its way toward the $100,000 victory. The Forza Mustang is putting down 420 RWHP thanks to a Vortech supercharger, Dynamax stainless headers, Magnaflow stainless exhaust system and PST carbon fiber driveshaft. Extreme stopping is achieved with 14-inch 6-piston Baer brakes. The Air Ride Technologies suspension system, Billet specialties 18-inch wheels and BFG tires offer the ultimate combination of civilized ride quality and hardcore performance handling.
Clay Cook Enterprises spent 350 hours creating the one-off aluminum body fascias, dropped rocker panels, aluminum grille, custom hood vents and hammer-formed radiator cover to make sure the Mustang had the proper road race look to match its on-track performance. The Mustang also features a stainless bolt-in roll bar, 5-point harness, Kicker stereo and Autometer gauges.
The Forza Mustang will be auctions live on the Speed Channel at the Barret Jackson Collector Car Auction January 18th. The buyer of the Forza Mustang will also receive a complete DVD set of the "Forza Motorsports Showdown" series signed by Angela Cope and all of the winning team members, the giant $100,000 presentation check given to the winning Air Ride Technologies Team and several pieces of team apparel, memorabilia, and behind the scenes photos of the Forza Show and the build-up of the Mustang.
